Shanti Arogya Mandir

We want to share with everyone the vision for Shanti Arogya Mandir which was inaugurated on May 16, 2003 on the occasion of Baba’s Birthday. It is a van, which Shanti Mandir has purchased that will travel to neighboring villages and provide medical services. That which is often taken for granted, in most modern countries, the third world needs to implement and hopefully not make the same mistakes in modernization.

Gurudev Nityanand would like the educated people in India to realize that they can have it all in India and do not need to go anywhere. Of course the above is a long term project. Having developed the ashram at Magod, we must now focus on the community and uplift them socially as well.

As someone from America shared with Gurudev.

"On your initiative of the Shanti Arogya Mandir, this is great. People need above all to be provided with what they need most. It is difficult to focus on beauty, God, and knowledge of the Self when one is hungry or the place where one lives is without water, sanitation or peace. You are right, it is so important that India not blindly follow America or the West as it modernizes - when I see pictures of Bangalore and Chennai, sometimes I get worried they are copying too much. Beauty, sacredness, form and function must be combined with the development of the basics you listed. Otherwise, if you only focus on the purely functional, you can end up with the ugliness of certain places in the US or China. It cannot be added later. In the US, nature is beautiful, but a lot of what is man-made is ugly - the intent is often purely commercial, it is not done in a spirit of worship while bringing function, comfort and wealth. India is developing very fast now, and it can easily get out of control, as we have seen here in places."

We look forward to everyone’s active participation, support and feedback.
