We offer beautiful products, which serve as tools for yoga students in their daily practices of chanting, meditation, worship, scriptural and philosophical study.
Baba Muktanand’s message is simple, “God Dwells Within You As You”. All practices at Shanti Mandir are designed to help the seeker to have a direct experience of this statement. Accordingly, each product at Poorna Samagri is carefully selected or created to aid the students in this quest.
The scriptures define Yoga as the ‘stilling of the mind’. When the mind is still, the Truth reveals itself and we realize our essential nature. Our mind is agitated by thoughts, which are created not only by our actions and reactions but also influenced by what we eat,; the fabrics and colors we wear; the cleanliness of our surroundings; sounds and aromas - in essence everything that we absorb through the five senses. We are further impacted subtly by the thoughts of the people we meet and even those who are a part of the chain that created the things we use or the food we eat.
The process of purification therefore works constantly from the subtle to the gross at multiple levels during our daily lives. Students who practice Yoga are encouraged to be conscious and aware of the company they keep, the books they read and the items they use in their daily lives. Poorna Samagri products are sourced keeping many of the scriptural tenets of yoga in mind.
The oils and incense are sourced from India through vendors whose products have been verified as pure and of high quality by Shanti Mandir. The shawls, asanas, (cushions) and socks used for meditation are hand woven and hand knit at Shanti Mandir. The Elizabeth Rose soaps are homemade by a devotee using all essential oils with no animal fat, thereby upholding the tenets of non-violence and vegetarianism and enhancing the deep experience of meditation.
The Shanti Hastakala products are handcrafts of women from the villages around Shanti Mandir’s ashram in Magod, in Gujarat, India. Poorna Samagri is one of their sale outlets to generate income for these women who are burdened with socio-economic challenges and struggling with minimum levels of food, clothing, shelter and health services. It is our hope that in offering their beautiful products for sale, we will not only be serving those who purchase them, but will also be imbibing the sublime benefits of charity.
