FROM SHAMBALLA to BERKELEY
Riding the Shakti Home

To those of you not on the tour…come with me

on  a nine day epic and its aftermath

as we live on in our befores and afters

that we know as sadhana

together and in the world…

always seeking that space

between the in-breath and the out-breath,

and the ways the meditative mind revels

in the playground of sadhana

beyond the linear word;

and I will say what I saw and felt

(and feel as I write to you).

With this pen, I write my heart, my eyes, my ears,

of shakti surfing across the land —

coming together and parting

in the eternal dance and the Footsteps of Bliss

we know as Bhagavan-Baba-Gurudev-Mantra-God-the Self,

We Are.

Tat Tvam Asi

Baba said—

Gurudev said—

Bhagavan  (unsaid),

That,That,THAT…

…bathing together in the ocean of THAT.

Take your foot and step (as best you can)

in the bliss of That,

shifting…Shifting…SHIFTING.

Driving from Ukiah to Shamballa…

the uphill climb—

winding

back

and forth

into the forest …

like a restless mind looking for center.

Shifting down, Om Namah Shivaya;

shifting up, Om Gurudev ;

shifting, Om Shiva…,what gear am I in now?

shifting anyway, just to move on…

to find Center.

Arriving at the clearing

surrounded by forest

lies Shamballa.

Shamballa…entrance into a waiting world…

…and morning time comes silently—

Gurudev sitting so straight,

flanked by Baba,Bhagavan and flowers.

Oh, Guudev,

You start          soft      slow     deep

Kaa      lee       Du      ge

(tears come to my eyes  and fall)

Vinay starts…slowly on mrudunga…drumming—

Your right hand drums Your knee—once

Your voice fuller…resonant

then Your hands meet—clap twice

Your still, Your in motion

everything connected

You drum on Your knee.., a slow caress

we answer back

Full

Kaa     lee       Dur      ge

One Voice

Na       mo       Na       mah

You pick up the cymbals, like extended fingers

Kaa  lee    Dur  ge    Na  mo    Na  mah

swaying and clapping, we pick up the pace

Kali   Durge   Namo  Namah

living as One/ chanting as One/ listening as One/ working as One

a body with hundreds of arms and legs

like thousands of hearts chanting

from Shamballa to Sea Ranch to Marin Headlands

to Petaluma to San Rafael to Berkeley.

Nala said,

Any reunion with Baba devotees

Is like coming home

To a Home that is more than a home.

Throughout the yatra,

Gurudev weaves morning questions of

Karma, Practices and Grace

into a rich tapestry

the  color of

radiance, simplicity and understanding.

This yatra of connections-garlanding-reconnecting-circling

Nala continues,

You see people you haven’t seen

for so long

and your so glad to see each other,

even if you don’t talk.

To be together is a natural expression

of beauty and gladness.

Gurudev says,

Guru does practices, japa, connected to that Divine,

devotee does the same,

the two antennas become connected;

everyone gets what they need.

For me, something happens to me [inside];

[then] I know [who got it].

Connecting and Reconnecting:

old Baba devotees who haven’t seen each other in 25 years

old Baba devotees who never parted

devotees of Gurumayi seeing Gurudev for the first time

devotees of Gurumayi who haven’t seen Gurudev since all was said and done

old Gurudev devotees parted for 22 years

people meeting Gurudev for the first time

Gurudev devotees with staying power who never left

Gurudev gathers and strings these scattered flowers into a new garland of light,

while He circles the earth with 108 satsangs, garlanding and protecting the earth

with the perfect mala of Babas’ teachings, Babas’ blessings.

Bow to Your Self- Worship Your Self- Honor Your Self- God Dwells within you as You.

Berkeley  Satsang…the Northern California Tour has reached its zenith.

Gurudev sits there in His white guru chair,

feet on the floor,

elbows leaning on both knees,

apple in hand,

darshan line empty now.

Still, He doesn’t get up…

sitting for just a few more moments,

(as though He doesn’t want it to end),

before moving on.

A few late night bhaktas sit like budding flames

around a Grace-ful Orange Mountain,

Where the Sun is always out.

The Footsteps of Bliss move on—

weaving, circling, connecting, re-connecting,

garlanding the earth…

Baba said to Eddie the night before He took Samadhi,

Hey, live a happy life.

Jai Gurudev
