Situated on 399 Awosting Road, this property was home to many
spiritual events for 11 years. It was quarters to Gurudev and
to the many people who came to visit him, whether for short
or for long periods.
The structure experienced many changes as it underwent its own
sadhana. The dining rooms, the gift shop, offices, as well as
the ashramites moved about until their location became perfect.
The structure became alive with knowledge during the Being Aware
Weekends, particularly joyful during the Young Adults' Retreats,
steeped in silence during the monthly Living Meditation Intensives,
and buzzing with activity during the busy long weekends such
as Memorial Day, Labor Day, and most especially the holy celebration
of Guru Poornima every year.
During the course of these 11 years, Shanti Mandir's three ashrams
were established - in India at Kankhal, (Haridwar) and Magod
(Gujarat), as well as in Walden, New York.
Gurudev is fond of reminding us that the ashram is much more
than a brick and mortar edifice. It is a space where devoted
seekers find the peace and inspiration to practice their sadhana
without distractions. The ashram is a tangible manifestation
of the Guru's grace.
We will always remember, with fondness and gratitude, this horse
farm, which was an ashram for 11 years and has once again become
a horse farm.

With the presence of Bhagwan Nityanand's moorti and Baba Muktanand
at the ashram in Walden as of March 16, 2002, we are eager to
witness the further blossoming of Guru's grace.
