SANT SAMMELAN AND MAHASAMADHI DAY CELEBRATIONS
OCTOBER 18-20, 2002

One of the culminating events of the two week celebration of the 20th anniversary of Baba Muktanandji's mahasamadhi was a Sant Sammelan (conference of saints) attended by sixteen revered saints, including Mahamandaleshwar Swami Brahmanand Giriji Maharaj, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Mangalanand Giriji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Niranjananand Giriji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishveshwaranand Giriji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Anand Chaitanya Saraswatiji Maharaj and Mahamandaleshwar Swami Atmanand Puriji Maharaj.

Devotees were fortunate not only to hear brilliant, powerful and erudite discourses by these saints on the subjects of  Dharma, Karma, Bhakti and Jnana but had their constant darshan over three days and were showered with their blessings.

The clarity and intellectual rigor of each of the above saints was ably demonstrated in the way they communicated the truth of the Sanatan Dharma. There were many highlights including the profound wisdom and good humor of Mahamandaleshwar Swami Brahmanandji and the exhilarating performance on the second morning by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Niranjananandji who has rightfully earned the title Vedant Vagish (The Tiger Who Roars Vedanta) and who made it very easy for so many to have a direct experience of the Self.

All the saints also participated in the moving celebrations on October 20 which began with early morning abhishek to the moorti of Bhagwan Nityanand in the Pancha Dev Mandir. Following chanting of the Guru Gita, Samaradhna Pooja was then performed by 18 couples to 18 Brahmins. After aarati and prasad everyone proceeded to Shree Nityanand Dham in a procession. First pooja was offered to Baba Muktanandji. All the saints were then honoured with aarti, garlanded and given gifts. Two books were released on the occassion honouring Baba. Bhaktanjali, in Hindi was launched by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Brahmanand Giriji Maharaj. Mukt-Anand, in English was launched by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Mangalanand Giriji Maharaj.

Various devotees shared their experiences of Baba and the revered saints spoke of the greatness of Baba's unique work as a Shaktipat Guru and its world-wide significance, and concluded that we were all very fortunate indeed that he had left us a true successor, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Nityanandji (Gurudev).

The Minister for Forests, Gujarat, Mr. Daulatbhai Desai, gave a humble, most touching speech in which he talked about Baba and honored all the saints. He expressed his support and appreciation for their contribution and that of Shanti Mandir to the well-being of the community.
