Soon after the property was acquired in Magod last year, the daily Ashram schedule started. All the festivals were celebrated with faith, devotion and active participation of people from Billimora, Valsad and surrounding areas. Satsangs were also been held regularly each Sunday morning. Devotees eagerly awaited Guruji’s arrival from abroad! Immediately after he reached Magod on December 14th, construction of the new Ashram buildings started in full swing and additional satsang programs were organized and scheduled. As the last week of December was a vacation period for schools and colleges, a retreat for children and adults was held from December 25, 1999 to January 1, 2000. The enthusiasm among the children was worth seeing. One could see small groups everywhere in the Ashram memorizing the Shiv Stuti, a prayer to Lord Shiva from Tulsi Das’s Ramcharita Manas. Equal was the interest in the hatha yoga exercises for which they waited eagerly at the scheduled time. The blessings and grace of Bhagwan Nityananda and Baba, were perceptible in all the many activities. All along Guruji had been thinking that the Ashram would take its true shape when Bhagwan Nityananda’s statue was installed. The statue had been ready, with Guruji patiently waiting nearly four years to establish a suitable place for its installation. As the mandap for the temple was being erected, Guruji consulted the Pandit for a suitable date for the temporary installation (Chal Pratishta) of Bhagwan’s statue. The Pandit consulted the lunar calendar and settled upon Saturday, January 1, as the auspicious day for the purpose. It also happened that per the solar calendar the same day chosen was New Year’s Day! Brisk preparations started and every item of work completed according to schedule. The statue from Mumbai arrived two days in advance. While the children participating in the retreat from Delhi, Mumbai and adjoining towns and villages of Gujarat were already there, devotees from almost all the centers in India as well as some from Australia and America were incidentally present. Their hearts leapt with joy as they came to know of the installation ceremony to be held on January 1. Everybody, old and young engaged themselves in seva, preparing the Mandap for the temple. It was a sight to see even the small children vying with each other in rendering seva for this auspicious occasion. The Temple Mandap was ready the day before and Guruji, in order to sanctify the place, or to say in his own words, "To make the place worthy of becoming Bhagwan’s abode", held the Guru Gita chant in the new Temple on the morning of January 1st. The statue installation ceremony started at 10 a.m. on January 1, with the chanting of invocation mantras by the Pandits. Every pooja was performed with great devotion and most especially the Abhishek of Bhagwan Nityananda. He was bathed with milk, curds, sugar, honey and ghee, and other sacred and auspicious things. The statue, donning clothes and rudraksha malas looked magnificent and radiant. It appeared Bhagwan Nityananda was actually showering his grace upon all those present. One of the most important activities
of the Ashram is the weekly Satsang held from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon every
Sunday. The first satsang in the presence of Bhagwan’s statue was held
on Sunday January 2nd, 2000. Devotees singing bhajans before
the statue felt his presence and it is certain that the statue of Bhagwan
Nityananda at the Ashram will provide great strength to the Satsangs
held here. The need of the hour is that more and more satsangs are held
so as to inculcate a deeper habit of remembering God in every thing
one does. The more one remembers God, the more one remembers to be kind
and loving towards his own fellow beings, thus transforming the world
into a better place.
