Mandir : Charitable Activities |
| Shanti Mandir is a socially conscious organization, contributing its might towards enduring peace and harmony in a social order ridden by avoidable conflict and painful adversity. Shanti Mandir regularly carries out activities and events to serve needy communities – especially those near its ashrams. The activities include feeding large numbers, preventive and curative health, literacy and scriptural education and, where possible, income-generating activities through use of simple skills that people already possess but are unable to use in any economically gainful way in the endemic unemployment and under-employment that persists in India.
Shanti Mandir supports its work and projects in three broad areas: |

| Shanti Arogya Mandir |

| The
Future |
The
needs of the people in rural India are numerous. One could think of
adult education, agricultural productivity, self-help groups for small
savings and micro-finance support to help enterprising women who are
rich in some traditional skills, special programs for the girl-child,
orthopedic support to make dependent handicapped a little more self-reliant,
education for those elected to panchayats – and those electing, and
so on. Also not every institution can go into all areas, lest it fails
to make even a dent in any area. Shanti Mandir will carefully study
the priority needs of the people in their neighbouring communities,
and see how much can be achieved sustainably within the resources that
they are able to access – human, financial and infrastructural. |
